How we handle your information
Written in plain language. The short version: we collect only what the platform needs, only matched members can see your details, and you stay in control.
Information we collect
Account details you provide (name, email, phone, city, state), profile information you choose to share (bio, avatar, listing photos), compatibility answers, listing content, messages, meeting requests, and agreement drafts. We also collect basic technical data (device, browser, IP) to keep the service secure.
How we use information
To operate the platform: create your account, run identity checks, compute compatibility matches, deliver messages, schedule meetings, generate agreements, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve the product.
What is visible to whom
Public listing pages never show renter identities. Full renter profiles and messages are visible only to matched members you actively engage with, and to Room With Purpose staff for safety and support. Compatibility answers are visible only to you; other members see match percentages and category breakdowns, not raw answers.
Identity and background checks
Identity verification and background checks are performed by third-party providers. We receive only the pass/fail signal and a limited summary needed for platform safety - not your full report. Do not share full reports with other members inside the platform.
Payments
If and when payments are enabled, they are processed by a third-party payment processor. Room With Purpose does not store full card numbers.
How we share information
With service providers who operate the platform (hosting, identity verification, email delivery, analytics), with matched members as described above, and when required by law or to protect the safety of members. We do not sell personal information.
Data retention
We keep account and message data as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period after closure to comply with legal, tax, and safety obligations. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
Your choices
You can update your profile, pause or delete a listing, edit your compatibility answers, block another member, or close your account from within the platform. To exercise data-access or deletion rights, contact us at privacy@roomwithpurpose.com.
Security
We use encryption in transit, role-based access, and row-level security on our database. No system is perfect - protect your account with a strong unique password and keep your device secure.
Children
The platform is not intended for anyone under 18. Do not create an account for a minor.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Meaningful changes will be announced in the platform.
